Embrace Open Source For Research: Kalam

Knowledge is created by the community for the community, is the major ideology behind free and open source software, which is not inclined by commercial interests. The former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam thinks that this ideology should be embraced to solve problems in research, health care, agriculture, energy and safe drinking water in developing countries. These noble thoughts were shared by him at the inauguration of the three-day National Convention for Academics and Research (NCAR) 2010 on ‘Computing freedom for technology, education and research,’ which was recently organised by the Free Software Movement of India.
